This lyric sheet was adapted from "THE UNOFFICIAL BAD RADIO SONGBOOK" by Andrew Dunn (bulldoze@u.washington.edu). It was the original collection of BR lyrics and is widely available (and widely stolen without credit) on the 'net. The original had many inaccuracies lyrically and included some songs which
weren't even done by Bad Radio (see Eddie's Demos for those songs). I've corrected many of the the mistakes with this version. There are a few Bad Radio songs that I have no lyrics for; currently they are "Ain't That Sumthin," "Waste My Days," "Money," and "Nuthin To Her." If anyone has information on these songs, please send the info to strega1@ix.netcom.com.
The lyrics on this page have been verified by band members Dave Silva (bassist) and Dave George (guitarist) and
are accurate to the best of my knowledge.

HOMELESS (Music by George, Lyrics by Vedder)
Look me in the eye just this one time mister
I won't be brushed away
I have to hurt you, don't you know
alternate lyric: "I'll fucking hurt you, don't you know"
My back is broken and my hands are blistered
I've worked a bloody lifetime
Tell me what have I to show
I just wanted you to know
I just wanted you to know
Don't go passing by just this one time mister
The tragedy is killing me and you, you say you gotta go
I just wanted you to know
I just wanted you to know
Start to understand just this one time, I mean it
I won't be here tomorrow
There's only one place left to go
You think the homeless, think they must be crazy
Well, listen to my last words as I say it ain't so
I just wanted you to know
I just wanted you to know
I'm leaving
Oh, you wouldn't know
I can't, I can't take no more
I'm leaving, oh, where will I go?
I'm leaving
Oh, yeah, I can't take it anymore
I can't
CROSSROADS (Music and Lyrics by Vedder)
Keyboards played by Dan Moore
I am young, but I will fight
I am young, oh, yet I refuse
Crossroads
This is my language
Leave me to my own
I've said
(away, away, away)
(away, away, away)
I said I've come a long way to my messiah
I said don't lead me away
(away, away, away)
I said I've come a long way to my messiah
I said don't lead me away
Oh, sing it, sing it
Crossroads
This is my language
They lead me to my own
(away, away, away)
Oh, I said I've come a long way to my messiah
I said don't lead me away, yeah
I said I've come a long way to my messiah
I said don't lead me away
Please, please, please
Crossroads
This is my language
Oooh, lead me to my own
I say
White man stand
Top of a mountain
Wearing emotions
And I'm alone
BELIEVE YOU ME (Music and Lyrics by Vedder)
"This is not a religious song" - Eddie Vedder
People walking, people running
People waiting on a second coming
Believe you me, I do believe
Believe you me, I do believe
People laughing, people starving
People divided, 'cause of people crowding
Believe you me, I do believe
Believe you me, I do believe
And I don't want to say no more today
No I don't want to, hear no more today
I said, I don't want to say no more
Yeah come on
Can you feel it
Can you feel it
Come on
I do believe
I feel it
I do believe
Yeah I feel it
I feel it (x30)
Yeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhh
Yeeeeeeeeeee-ha
C'mon boys!
It don't matter what, yeah, it only matters when
The time has come, yeah, yeah, yeah
To believe
To believe
To believe
To believe
WHAT? (Music by George, Lyrics by Vedder)
She speaks with the wisdom of the whispering wind
I'm blown by the pieces and go tumbling
She, she's got a way about her
She has her way with me
Embers in the fire are smoldering
She shows no sign of surrendering
Me, I'm sworn to sacrifices
She swears herself to me, yeah
Then she leaves
What?
What do you want from me?
What?
What do you want from me, yeah
What?
What do you want from me?
What?
What do you want from me?
Lying in the barrel of a loaded gun
She delivers her threats in a foreign tongue
She, she's got a way about her
She, she's not about to stay with me, yeah
Still I plead...
What?
What do you want from me?
What?
What do you want from me, yeah
What?
What do you want from me?
What?
What do you want from me?
Ooh, what do you want from me, yeah
Ooh, I say, what, what do you want from me, yeah
What? what do you want from me
What? what do you want from me
(you are my brother)
What? What do you want from me
(there ain't no other)
What? what do you want from me
(you are my brother)
What? What do you want from me
(there ain't no other)
Hey, what do you want?
ANSWER (Music and Lyrics by George)
Live for the evening, not silver and gold
Love is an answer, why haven't we been told?
Father, the lessons you taught us don't work so well
Live for the evening
All I wanna do and all that I'm saying
Is that we can find some common ground
No matter what you're wearing
We don't have to fight and die like our fathers did
Just relax for a second and use your head
Live for each other, the past is so long ago
Love is an answer, now you've been told
All I wanna do and all that I'm saying
Is that we can find some common ground
No matter what you're wearing
We don't have to fight and die like our fathers did
Just relax for a second and use your head
Chill it!
Live for the evening, the past is so long ago
All I wanna do and all that I'm saying
Is that we can find some common ground
No matter what you're wearing
We don't have to fight and die like our fathers did
Just relax for a second and use your head
I'M ALIVE (Music and Lyrics by George)
So there I was walking down the street
Kinda surprised to be there 'cause...
I don't know, there's a lot of bad shit goin' on in the world
Rape and murder
Racism and starvation
And I'm feeling like I'm doin' pretty good for myself, you know?
I'm alive, how's that? (x8)
Anyway, I was thinking about rap music in general and I feel bad
I mean, where you going to go after the Beverly Hillbillies?
Rap hit it's peak in the 60s
I'm alive how's that? (x8)
Eh, what do you want, something profound in every verse?
"Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so"
I'm alive how's that? (x8)
I like to drink beer, I like to make love, I like to jam!
I like read Bukowski buck naked, I like intellectual conversations
I like to jump around like a maniac!
I like to sit very still
"Right..."
WHAT THE FUNK (Music and Lyrics by George)
I was raised up in a bad way
With ugly little things that are here to stay
Well I'm a man now, in charge of what I think
Those little bits of ugliness will drive me to drink
Formal education...
I thought my teachers told the truth
Yeah, but mom and dad and Mrs. Smith
Well they lied to this poor youth
But we're bright children
We'll shake some sense into them
What the funk is up?
Shake some sense into them
What the funk is up?
Shake it, shake, shake, shake it
What the funk is up?
Shake some sense into them
What the funk is up?
I see things so much better now
I think I found the missing link
You've got to jump back from those people
Who would poison what you think
But we're bright children
We'll shake some sense into them
What the funk is up?
Shake some sense into them
What the funk is up?
What the funk? What the funk?
What the funk is up?
Shake some sense into them
What the funk is up?
(Repeat chorus x 2)
BETTER MAN (Music and Lyrics by Vedder)
"Here's a song that I wrote before I could
drink...well, legally that is" - Eddie Vedder
Waiting, watching the clock
It's four o'clock, it's got to stop
Tell him, take no more, she practices her speech
As he opens the door, she rolls over
Pretends to sleep as he looks her over
She lies and says she's in love with him
Can't find a better man
She dreams in color, she dreams in red
Can't find a better man
Can't find a better man
Can't find a better man
Talking to herself
There's no one else who needs to know
She tells herself
Memories back when she was bold and strong and waiting
For the world to come along
Swears she'd do it, now she swears he's gone
She lies and says she's in love with him
Can't find a better man
She dreams in color, she dreams in red
Can't find a better man
She lies and says she still loves him
Can't find a better man
She dreams in color, she dreams in red
Can't find a better man
Can't find a better man
Can't find a better man
She loved him, yeah
She don't want to leave this way
She needs him, yeah
That's why she'll be back again
Can't find a better man }
Cant find a better man }(x7)
JUST A BOOK (Music and Lyrics by Vedder)
[French]
Back to the movie
Back to the end
Back to where the tragedy began to begin
Back to see for myself before I give in
Words on paper, yeah, yeah
Aren't atomic bombs
Ink on paper
Turns to bloodshed, I'm turning to go
Back to my country
Back for my health
Back to find the company of someone else
Back to feel the eyes of the city, look for myself
Words on paper, yeah, yeah
Not atomic bombs
Ink on paper, yeah, yeah
Turns to bloodshed, I'm turning to run
From my people
From the place where I am known
For my people
I found myself
I found myself, all alone
It's just a book
It's just a tragedy, what goes on
It's just a book
It's not, it's not written in blood, oh
You won't forget
Except for sometimes, yeah
Is there anyone can you trust?
[French]
Words on paper, yeah, yeah
Not atomic bombs
Ink on paper, yeah, yeah
Turns to bloodshed, I'm turning to run
From my people
From the place where I am known
From my people
I found myself
I found myself all alone
It's just a book
It's just a tragedy
What goes on
It's just a book
It's not written in blood, oh
It's just a book
It's just a tragedy, what goes on
It's just a book
It's not, it's not, it's not written in blood
It's just a book
It's just a reflection of what goes on
It's just a book
It's not, it's not written in blood
[French]
It's just a book
It's just a tragedy, what goes on
It's just a book
It's not, it's not, it's not written in blood
It's just a book
It's just a reflection of what goes on
It's just a book
It's not written in blood
It's just a book
It's just a book
It's just...
